2017 International Conference on Advanced Fibers and Polymer Materials

2017 International Conference on Advanced Fibers and Polymer Materials (ICAFPM 2017) will be held in October 8–10, 2017, at Donghua University, Songjiang campus, Shanghai, China.

ICAFPM is a scientific and academic international meeting, organized by State Key Laboratory for Modification of Chemical Fibers and Polymer Materials (SKLFPM) of Donghua University (DHU).

ICAFPM has established a forum and provided a platform for the worldwide polymer community to exchange and discuss new ideas and new findings in Advanced Fibers and Polymer Materials. Following the seven successful previous events held since 2002, this year the 8th International Conference on Advanced Fibers and Polymer Materials (ICAFPM 2017) will be organized by  SKLFPM,  Innovation Base of Advanced Fabrication Technology of Fiber Materials, Center for Advanced Low-dimension Materials (CALM), and College of Materials Science and Engineering(CMSE) of Donghua University, in close partnership with Natural Science Foundation of China, Fiber Society of China (FS, CMRS), Polymer Materials and Engineering Society of China, Chinese Materials Research Society (PMESC, C-MRS), China Women’s Association for Science & Technology, Shanghai Consulting & Academic Activities Center for Academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and State Key Laboratory of Polyolefins and Catalysis, in October 2017.

  The main theme of ICAFPM 2017 is the Next-generation fibers: Changing your life.

  Fibers and polymers have wide-spreading contributions to development of national economy, science & technology and national defense construction. For instance, the functional carbon fibers products, including modified continuous fiber, surface modified fiber, and specialty chopped fiber, as well as the semi-conductive polymers and their hybrids have attracted tremendous applications, in less than a decade.Similar technologies utilizing other advanced materials such as glass fibers, aramid fibers and electronic and optical devices are of great importance among marketable products.

  While the enormous privileges of fibers and polymers have been realized and the controversial perception on capabilities of traditional materials i.e. metals and metal-oxides has reached to their limitations, demands for fibrous and polymeric opto-electronics, thermal devices, absorbers, chemical catalysts, membranes, biologics ect. were expanded. More importantly the Holo fibers as the next generation fibers are opening a sophisticated perspective to the future of integrated and networked devices and systems.

  Since the marvelous applications of next generation fibers will change our life greatly in the coming future, the acceleration of Holo fibers is a new opportunity for the upgrade and innovation of world industry.

  Nonetheless, the challenges in structural and functional tuning, method of construction and incorporation into associated devices, and installation have posed technical and financial barriers to the subject. ICAFPM 2017 is expected for and, welcome the novel comminucations related to the next-generation fibers and polymer materials.
